The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, said that this year’s motto “The importance of innovation and creativity in building our common future”, underscores the Government’s goal to develop and strengthen intellectual property, innovation and creativity, as well as tap into the potential of the industry, to be the main driver of economic, social and environmental development and to contribute to the overall development of our country.
Minister Hajdari spoke about the work of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing the approval of the legislative amendments of 2023 in the field of industrial property in accordance with the EU Acquis, as well as the Industrial Property Programme 2024-2026 with the aim of strengthening the Industrial Property System in accordance with international best practices in order to promote economic growth, social and technological development in the country, as well as strengthen industrial property rights and fight counterfeiting.
While underlining the progress of the work of the Industrial Property Agency during 2023, Minister Hajdari also highlighted the recent achievements in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the establishment of the Innovation Fund within the Draft Law on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, according to the best European practices.
Additionally, she emphasized the direct financial support programmes of MINT for start-up businesses and growing innovation SMEs, the construction and operation of industrial and technological parks, business incubators and innovation centers in other regions of the country, as well as clusters and other joint premises aimed at benefiting from new knowledge and skills for development and industrial transformation in our country.
“By promoting a culture of innovation and supporting innovative initiatives, Kosovo can strengthen its economic sectors and improve competitiveness in the international market", Minister Hajdari noted.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mrs. Daulina Osmani, Head of the Politics, Economy and Integration Section in the EU, Mrs. Annacarin Platon and the Head of Mission of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Kosovo, Mr. Eric Dietz, were also among speakers at the conference.
Within the framework of the conference, a fruitful panel discussion was held with institutional representatives from OPM, MIET, MCYS, MFLT and the private sector.
