Today’s inauguration of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in the premises of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, within the University of Prishtina, marks the next step towards the creation and development of the ecosystem of innovation and technology and opportunities for the absorption of new knowledge, the promotion of innovation and useful technology, through core activities that develop innovative ideas for new products, services and processes.
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was put into operation as a result of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade and the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina", after the renovation of the premises and the investment of about 1 million euros for adaptation and functionalization as well as the purchase of equipment necessary for ICT.
During his speech, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti expressed the full support of the Government of Kosovo for the development of innovation and technology in our country, stressing the need to link the academy with innovation and industry.
The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, on this occasion, stated that research, development and innovation are the main drivers for economic, technological and social development.
Minister Hajdari expressed the vision to continue with the support for promoting innovation with an impact on entrepreneurship, with capital investments in industrial and technological parks, innovation and entrepreneurship centers, various incubators, as well as direct support for businesses with new grant schemes for innovation, aiming at the development of the innovation ecosystem, as the interaction of all the main actors involved in innovative activities in the country and beyond.
Businesses that undertake research grow faster, achieve higher export rates and create more employment, thereby integrating their value-added products more quickly into the global value chain, added Minister Hajdari.
After the inauguration ceremony, the participants also visited the premises of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
