MIET: Citizens’ trust in institutions is growing more and more over time

For only the first two weeks of this year, the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade, namely the Department for Consumer Protection, has received 462 complaints from citizens, who reported the irregularities they encountered in the market. Of these, 347 complaints are against some cable operators, whose services are regulated by contract between the parties in the Republic of Kosovo.

MIET's maximum commitment and dedication to support the consumer has resulted in these complaints getting addressed in record time to the relevant institutions for further treatment, while MIET itself will ensure that each complaint receives an official response, so that this case is solved and the right of citizens, respectively consumers, guaranteed by law is protected.

The continuous increase in the number of complaints from citizens to the Department of Consumer Protection, which operates within the MIET, simultaneously proves the increase of citizens' trust in institutions. For this purpose, MIET in 2023 drafted the new Law on Consumer Protection, which was approved by the Government and which further strengthens the institutional support for consumer rights in the market.

During 2023 alone, the Department for Consumer Protection received over 3,000 complaints, where the largest number of complaints was in the category of trade, including: price discrepancy, non-return of goods, reimbursement of funds, consumer fraud, etc.

The Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade, namely the Department for Consumer Protection and the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, remain maximally committed to protecting consumer rights, and they call on citizens to submit complaints by calling the toll-free number 0800 11000 or via email address: konsumatori@rks-gov.net
