Kosovo Standardization Agency (KSA), which is part of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, marked the World Standards Day with the motto “A shared vision for a better world”.
The Deputy Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mentor Arifaj, has said that World Standards Day brings together a diverse group consisting of experienced standardisers, as well as those who are curious to understand what standards can do for them.
Arifaj has pledged that Government of Kosovo with regulators and all other main actors will be committed to promote standards towards measurable progress.
"We are constantly trying, and we even have a legal obligation to meet the country's requirements with European and international standards, to ensure that products, processes and services are of the highest quality and safest in Kosovo. Sensing the needs of the country and the requirements of the EU, we have focused on the adoption of harmonized standards, which are more and more present in KSA as Kosovar standards, in which case we are fulfilling one of the conditions for accession in the European Union", said Arifaj.
The Deputy Minister announced that so far around 12,500 European and international standards have been approved as Kosovar standards, adding that within them are the most necessary ones for the needs of the Kosovar economy and the government as well.
"Quality should always be aimed at customer satisfaction, but top quality cannot be achieved at all. We never said that we are doing perfect work, but with standards, top results could be achieved, and we are here ready to accept your evaluation and ideas for the successful development of Kosovar standardization, which every day is becoming more and more necessary for the economic rise of the country", said Arifaj.
Whereas, Bujar Istogu, deputy General Director of KSA, said that it is standardization that keeps us together and committed to finding solutions for our society, environment, industry and technology.
"The theme of the World Standards Day this year, 'A shared vision for a better world', shows that it is no surprise that cooperation covers a wide variety of topics, from digital trust to global trade," emphasized Istogu.
He said that with around 150 technical experts engaged in KSA and TC, among other things, we intend to build a new and effective network with people who are committed to work for finding new solutions and fixing the biggest challenges of our country.
World Standards Day is held every October 14 and this event is also celebrated in Kosovo.
Kosovo Standardization Agency is a national body that approves standards, harmonizes them and as a result strongly stimulates economic development, creating a basis for competition in the region and beyond.
