The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) has mobilized the Market Inspectorate to increase the safety of products in the market, consumer protection, and competition protection.
This mobilization was also coordinated with Kosovo Customs as, on 03.06.2021, at the crossing border point in Vërmica, the market inspectors took 5 samples of construction products "steel rods – reinforcement bars φ12 mm, of quality B500C", from three different importers.
The samples were tested in the accredited Laboratory and each sample was tested by 8 parameters.
Referring to the reports issued by the accredited Laboratory, it results that there was non-conformity according to Standard EN 10080 in all three shipments, therefore, the Market Inspectorate has decided that the construction products "steel rods – reinforcement bars φ12 mm" shall not allowed to be placed in the domestic market because they do not meet the requirements under Law No. 06/L-033 on Construction Products, namely the relevant Standard EN 10080.
The above-mentioned products, of the same manufacturer, are not allowed to enter the domestic market of the Republic of Kosovo until they eliminate the non-conformity mentioned above. Also, the same products (steel rods – reinforcement bars), which are imported from manufacturers of other countries, will be verified by the MIET Market Inspectorate before entering the domestic market.
MIET, namely the Market Inspectorate, will continue with the verification of product safety, in close cooperation with economic operators and other bodies responsible for overseeing the implementation of applicable laws and standards.
Also, the Market Inspectorate, in cooperation with Kosovo Customs, has banned the entry into the market of 152 electrical appliances (stoves), which bore Serbia's mark of conformity and were not in accordance with the legislation in force of the Republic of Kosovo.
