Yesterday (3 February 2017), the minister of Trade and Industry Hykmete Bajrami, hosted at the meeting the Kosovo Customs Heads, leaded by Acting General Director Fahri Gashi. At the meeting they discussed for strengthening the cooperation between MTI and Customs on facilitating trade and fighting informality and fiscal envision in the Republic of Kosovo.
Minister Bajrami informed the Customs Officials about the work that has been done so far by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in facilitating businesses and trade with CEFTAs and European Union state countries, through Stabilization and Association Agreement, as well as increasing commitment of Market Inspectorate in terms of fuel quality control that are traded in the Republic of Kosovo. She added that MTI has finalized new administrative instruction on the quality of liquid fuels of oil through which the powers of the fuel quality control at the border, will be transferred to the Customs of Kosovo as is defined in the Law on Products Technical Requirements, Conformity Assessment and the Customs and Excise Code in Kosovo.
Representatives of Customs expressed their commitment to intensify cooperation with MTI through institutional common engagements and said that the entry into force of the Administrative Instruction on quality of fuel will contribute seriously in efficient fuel quality control and reduce tax evasion in this important sector.
