Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami, hosted in the meeting Mrs. Anca Ioana Ionescu, head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Office. The meeting discussed the deepening of cooperation between MTI and EBRD in supporting the private sector in the Republic of Kosovo.
Minister Bajrami thanked the EBRD for the up to date engagement in strengthening the private sector, but also for the technical assistance provided to the Kosovo institutions. She said that the Government of Kosovo is committed to further intensify this partnership in the economic development of the Republic of Kosovo. One of the important projects that is being worked with the EBRD is the second phase of construction of the Business Park in Drenas, for which project Minister Bajrami said it will create optimal conditions that will further promote economic activity of Kosovar enterprises as well as the increase in the number of foreign investors who will come to Kosovo. Minister Bajrami highly praised the project of certification of Kosovo products with internationally recognized certificates, which is being implemented by the EBRD, and said that this is opening the way Kosovo products to penetrate the markets of the region and the European Union market.
For her part, Mrs. Ionescu thanked the Ministry of Trade and Industry for the cooperation so far and said that the EBRD will continue its commitment to support the process of economic empowerment of Kosovar enterprises in order to increase the competitiveness of Kosovo's economy in the regional and wider context.
