Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami, is attending the World Tourism Forum in Lucerne, Switzerland. Global forum leaders in the field of tourism are participating in this forum by state, academic and business world institutions.
In this forum, Minister Bajrami spoke about the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in the development of tourism. She said that Kosovo has made significant progress in its development in many areas, including tourism, which has a progressive increase from year to year. Of course, the tourism sector has great potential for further development, and the Kosovo Government is working to advance its policies towards this sector, the Minister said.
She underlined that efforts are being made to further strengthen the institutional capacities at the central and local level that will further push the agenda for development and promotion of tourism in our country. Also, Minister Bajrami said that the government will support the National Tourism Council, which will be functionalized soon, serving as an important mechanism for the country's government in providing ideas and advice regarding modern trends in the development of a Sustainable tourism.
Bajrami said that the Government of Kosovo is also preparing for membership in the World Tourism Organization and invited the present delegates to support the Republic of Kosovo in this process which would give serious incentive to Kosovar tourism development as well as integration of our country in the international tourist map.
During this visit, Minister Bajrami had a series of bilateral meetings with international tourism industry leaders, such as the meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Taleb Rifai and representatives of different governments and leaders of international organizations in the field of tourism.
