Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami, participated in the conference
"Intellectual Property Rights" organized in the framework of marking the World
Intellectual Property Day.
In her speech, Minister Bajrami said that unauthorized use of the trademark; production,
export, sale of patents without a license; counterfeiting of products; piracy and similar
phenomena are a preoccupation of many countries around the world, so it is of particular
importance that these negative phenomena be fought in Kosovo as well.
Further, Minister Bajrami said that the importance of the intellectual property protection of
the enterprise is not merely the role that it can play in reducing or restoring economic losses
that result from its intellectual property violations, but above all to the preservation of the
destruction of the enterprise market, the degradation of its image and the credibility of its
customers in its name and its products or services.
Minister Bajrami expressed her continued support towards the strengthening of the
intellectual property system in Kosovo through the Agency for Industrial Property, which
operates within the MTI. Strengthening such a system is a priority of the Ministry and will
continue as such until full compliance with the obligations deriving from the Stabilization
and Association Agreement with the EU, she said.
"We want to make sure that through intellectual property protection we encourage new
technological developments, promote innovation and inventions, and defend the reputation of
domestic and international companies' brands," said Minister Bajrami.
Bajrami underlined that the Ministry of Trade and Industry, through the API, Market
Inspectorate, Consumer Protection Department is committed to providing a safer
environment for the customers of the Republic of Kosovo and that it will continue the
inspection and the control of legal and natural persons that violate copyright and related
rights.
