The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, accompanied by the Director of the Department of Industry at MINT, Mrs. Valbona Dushi and Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Agency for Investments and Enterprise Support in Kosovo (KIESA), Mr. Zef Dedaj, hosted at a meeting the Director for Economic Development of USAID in Kosovo, Mr. Alexander Albertine, accompanied by colleagues from USAID and implementing projects – “Compete” Activity and “Promotion of Investments and Access to Finance” Activity, funded by USAID.
This meeting was held with the aim of deepening the cooperation between MIET and USAID, for the further support of the private sector and the unfolding of its potential as the main driver of social, economic and environmental development in our country.
In this regard, Minister Hajdari informed the USAID representatives about the Industrial Development Strategy 2030 (Industrial Policy) and Business Support Instruments, through which the further support and development of the industrial manufacturing sector is aimed, and with the aim that by 2030, the local manufacturing industry is integrated in the global value chain.
Further, Minister Hajdari disclosed the laws drafted by MIET, which contribute to the further development of the private sector in Kosovo, mentioning the Law on Sustainable Investments, the Law on Industrial and Technological Parks, as well as the Draft Law on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
While the USAID projects support the objectives of MINT's commitment to support businesses in Kosovo, the parties agreed that this cooperation is strengthened with models of cooperation in the same goals and incorporating the best international practices.
On the other hand, Mr. Alexander Albertine and other USAID representatives informed Minister Hajdari of the objectives and work of the new USAID project: "Promotion of Investments and Access to Finance", with new instruments in the private sector, which will contribute to development of the ecosystem and faster economic transformation. They also expressed their willingness to provide full support in the implementation of the Ministry's policies and priorities for the development of the private sector, based on the principles of transparency, accountability and equality.
In the end, Minister Hajdari thanked the USAID representatives with gratitude for the unsparing support of the United States of America and other international partners.
