The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, together with colleagues and experts, introduced the Draft Strategy on the Tourism of the Republic of Kosovo with a vision until 2030 at a joint roundtable held with institutional representatives of the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo – mayors, deputy mayors, directors, and municipal officials.
By stressing the crucial importance of such a strategy for the development of tourism in our country and consequently its direct impact on the economic development of our country, Minister Hajdari invited those present to provide their comments and contributions so that this document be as comprehensive and valuable as possible, but also for undertaking the necessary actions in the field to improve the complete infrastructure for sustainable tourism on a competitive basis and with an impact on socio-economic development and growth of employment.
Minister Hajdari stated that we must see tourism as a capital that incorporates sectors and sub-sectors that are very important for our country, with the vision that “By 2030, Kosovo will become a tourist destination and a competitor in the Western Balkans”.
“Sustainable tourism will be one of the main principles in the development trajectory of this sector. Developments that fall within the framework of natural tourism and cultural tourism will receive the most attention, without excluding other developments that take place as a result of internal dynamics and global trends. During this period, tourism will be transformed into one of the key sectors of sustainable economic development in the country”, stated Minister Hajdari.
The Government of Kosovo, in cooperation with line ministries, municipalities, and with the help of other tourism actors, is committed to drafting a State Strategy on Tourism 2030 with a strategic and systematic approach and solutions in order to enable the development of cultural and natural tourism on a competitive basis and with an impact on socio-economic development and growth of employment.
Those present at the meeting appreciated the commitment to the drafting of the Strategy on Tourism and expressed their support and readiness for contribution and cooperation.
In the following days, the “Draft Strategy on Tourism 2030” will circulate for consultation with other related actors who can contribute to the finalization of this strategy on the development of this vital economic and cultural sector with their opinions and recommendations.
