During her opening speech, Minister Hajdari emphasized the importance of open dialogue between academia, industry, and government, as a structured triangular collaboration, resulting in innovative solutions that promote sustainable development and transition towards a green economy. She expressed the government’s commitment to implementing policies that support environmental sustainability and improve citizens’ lives. “One of these policies is the Industrial Policy 2030, approved in June 2023 and currently being implemented, which plays a major role in promoting innovation and the development of the manufacturing and processing industry.”
Through industrial policy, the goal for Kosovo is to achieve the objective of promoting a circular and green industry, through changes such as increasing the circularity and recycling of materials in the production sector, producing and consuming low-carbon green products, and focusing on technological improvements for energy efficiency", emphasized Minister Hajdari.
Minister Hajdari also highlighted the significance of innovation which is expected to play a crucial role in decarbonizing the industry, where the private sector is seen as having a key role in socio-economic and environmental transformation.
She stated that by actively involving the private sector, we can not only achieve our sustainable development goals, but also promote innovation and empower the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
“In this context, the private sector’s dedication to meeting the obligations of the Sofia Declaration on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans is a vital step towards reaching shared objectives.”
Working together with partners to develop NetZero technologies, diversify and strengthen supply chains, and support the private sector in their green transition, commitments towards NetZero can be beneficial for both the planet and businesses,'' added Minister Hajdari.
She announced reforms and investments by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade to expand doing business opportunities and enhance cooperation between the private sector and academia. This includes the construction and operation of industrial and technological parks in various municipalities, as well as the establishment of new parks, business incubators and innovation centers within academia.
These significant current and future capital investments, with a budget of 33 million euros for the years 2024-2026, will also help promote greater collaboration between industry and academia. This collaboration is crucial for preparing young individuals for our industry and accelerating the development of the ecosystem with the growth of innovation.
