The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs Rozeta Hajdari, participated in the marking conference for receiving the Sovereign Credit Rating ‘BB-‘ for Kosovo, from the Fitch Ratings, a global rating agency, organized by the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Albin Kurti, on this occasion, said that this rating has a very positive impact on the country's economy, but will also serve as a clear proof of the work of our government. He also emphasized some of the positive factors that were presented in this rating, thus mentioning the work performed by the Government in the field of fiscal policies with the reduction of the budget deficit, continuous increase in tax collection, low level of public debt, implementation of necessary reforms, fight against corruption, and political stability of the country, due to the fact that the Government is well-positioned to serve the full mandate.
Whereas, the Director of USAID in Kosovo, Mrs Eileen Devitt, emphasized that the credit rating from Fitch Ratings enables access to new financial markets and paves the path for public investments, as well as eases the path for all those who want to open their businesses.
The credit rating of Fitch Ratings also serves as a passport of the state, through which foreign investors will find it easier to be informed about the economic development and financial policies of the country, thus easing the process of attracting foreign investments in Kosovo.
This Credit Rating puts Kosovo on the world map of serious countries with stable policies, further strengthening the country's position and recognition in the international arena.
The second part of the conference was a panel discussion, where the Minister Hekuran Murati, Governor Ahmet Ismaili, President of the Association of Banks of Kosovo, Mr Suat Bakkal, and Director of the World Bank Office in Kosovo, Mr Massimiliano Paolucci, participated therein.
In this discussion, Minister Murati emphasized that the credit rating by Fitch Ratings puts Kosovo in a favourable position that will affect Kosovo's access to international financial markets.
