The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, in the Parliamentary Committee for Economy, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, also reported on the implementation of the Law on Foreign Trade.
Minister Hajdari, during her report to the members of this Committee, informed them in detail about the progress in the implementation of the articles and provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade. At the same time, she informed the members of the Committee for the drafting of the Trade Policy as a strategic document which foresees the vision and objectives of the trade policy of the Republic of Kosovo.
In order to increase exports and improve the trade balance, Minister Hajdari emphasized the measures taken within the framework of the Law on Foreign Trade and other measures implemented during the last two years to support businesses for standardization and certification of products and increase of exports; and the signing of the Agreement with the European Union for the inclusion of the Republic of Kosovo in the European Union "Single Market" Program, with a budget of 4.2 billion euros for the time period 2021-2027, from which program local businesses and organizations can benefit.
She also announced other new regulatory, tariff and procurement measures, within the first Strategy for Industrial Development and Business Support 2030, to facilitate the development and trade exchanges of the production sector of Kosovo, as well as to strengthen the defence of Industrial Property with the new legal infrastructure in accordance with the latest standards and practices of the countries of the European Union (EU).
Among other things, Minister Hajdari also announced the launch of the Negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) with the aim of expanding cooperation in areas of special importance to expand trade relations between the parties, as well as to sign four protocols for economic cooperation with: Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates.
As a result, we have managed to improve the trade balance to 6:1 from the previous ratio of 9:1.
