As part of her ongoing visits to local businesses, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, accompanied by Deputy Minister Mr. Mentor Arifaj, cabinet advisers and CERP project officials, visited the Karagaç furniture factory in Pejë today. The factory has received approximately 67 thousand Euros from MIET through the Competitiveness and Export Readiness Project (CERP), which is financed by a state loan from the World Bank.
During the visit, Minister Hajdari expressed the Government of Kosovo’s strong commitment to supporting local businesses. This commitment will be achieved through the implementation of technology, certification, training and digitization, thus creating conditions to improve the quality of products, increase production efficiency and enhance competitiveness in both the regional and foreign markets.
Furthermore, she emphasized that he Industrial Policy, which includes the wood processing industry, will provide businesses with increased institutional support, which will be facilitated through the government’s sectorial policies in industry, education and employment.
Meanwhile, the founder of this factory, Mr. Bajram Zeqiri, accompanied by his son, Mr. Ferhad Zeqiri, who also manages the factory, expressed their gratitude for, as they said, the recovery of the factory. They mentioned that it had been built solely with their own resources and without any financial assistance, emphasizing that the financial support received from MIET through the CERP project has allowed them to obtain certification with the CE mark and ISO standards. Additionally, it has provided training for accessing services and developing their business, to finance the purchase of machinery with modern technology, which has improved the work process and increased production efficiency.
The Karagaç Furniture Factory employs 45 workers and is renowned as one of the leading factories in the Peja region for wooden furniture. Three years ago, the factory began exporting furniture to Switzerland, which now constitutes over 90% of the factory's total sales in this country.
