The minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, once again confirmed the support of Kosova’s institutions for local producers at the round table meeting organized by the Kosovo Manufacturers Club, on the topic: “Domestic products in supermarkets – regulation of domestic trade”.
In this conference were present: the Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj, representatives of Kosovo’s producers and traders, RIINVEST’s representatives, and other representatives of the business community.
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj, emphasized the partnership of the Kosovo Government with Kosovar businesses. Deputy Prime Minister Limaj added that there is still work to be done in eliminating all business barriers and that the priority is already local production. "We will fix this wild market by protecting the country's interests. Without any dilemma free trade must be respected, but of course there are rules that must be legally respected. It is worrying that 90 percent of our markets are full of imported goods, and only 10 percent with local products, "Limaj said, adding that this wild market should be regulated legally.
Meanwhile, the minister of Trade and Industry, Bajram Hasani, pointed out that the priority of this government is to empower and support local producers. "Our priority is to empower and support local producers. We have taken the measures where we could take, and in benefit to protect local producers. There is a need to investigate the market in order to regulate it, always based on facts. We as the MTI have tailored a strategy to eliminate barriers and creating facilities for businesses, "said Hasani, announcing that they will take continues measures to protect producers.
He further added that we have taken measures, have already started, and we believe that we are in the right process to act where is possible and where the law allows us. "MTI will act and protect the local producers only conform the SAA and CEFTA agreement, and through the anti-damping law when damped prices can be realized”, stated minister Hasani ".
Although, minister Hasani announced that today will be published the World Bank Doing Business Report 2018, where Kosovo will have good improvement in the World ranking.
