The Minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi, together with market inspectors stayed today at the Customs Terminal in Prizren.
After the meeting with regional customs officials, fuel samples were taken in five barges to verify whether the quality of the fuel is in accordance with the parameters set by law.
The Minister, Krasniqi said that in the course of several inspections today, it was decided that the control of the fuel should be done before it is discharged through the fuel pumps to understand what quality of fuel that is being introduced in the Kosovo market.
"We, as state institutions, have an obligation to assure the citizens about the quality of the products that are on the market.”Today we decided to visit this terminal and deal mainly with petroleum products where the inspectors took samples from 5 barges to check the quality of the fuel", declared Minister Krasniqi.
In a meeting with the representatives of Kosovo Customs, the customs officers pointed out the difficulties they face since the competencies for quality control and analysis were transferred to this institution.
Minister Krasniqi said that the possibilities will be taken into account to see if this competence should be returned to the Market Inspectorate within the MTI.
