The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, has announced that the European Union has approved financial support in the amount of 206.4 million euros for Kosovo, through the IPA 2026, IPA 2027 and Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) programs.
According to her, the IPA Committee has approved the projects proposed by Kosovo within the IPA 2026 and IPA 2027 programs, in the amount of 180.5 million euros. After the formal approval by the European Commission, as well as the signing and ratification of the Financial Agreement by the Assembly of Kosovo, the implementation of the projects will start.
The funds will be invested in sectors of strategic importance for the country’s development, including environment and climate, energy, border management and migration, competitiveness, education and employment, good governance and rule of law. About half of the funds will be dedicated to infrastructure investments, while part of the projects will be implemented in partnership with international financial institutions and with co-financing from Kosovo institutions.
In addition to IPA funds, three grants have also been approved under the WBIF, in the amount of EUR 25.9 million. These will support the preparation of investments for the Iber-Lepenc Hydrosystem and the Qafë e Duhla-Banulla highway segment, as well as the construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Podujeva, through an investment grant of 24.3 million euros in cooperation with the EBRD.
Minister Kusari-Lila assessed that this financial support represents an important investment for the economic, social and institutional development of Kosovo, contributing to the improvement of infrastructure, environmental protection, strengthening of the economy, advancement of the rule of law and acceleration of the European integration process. She emphasized that the funded projects will bring concrete benefits to the citizens and will support the sustainable development of the Republic of Kosovo.
