She announced that work and investments are currently being conducted in 12 economic zones, while their expansion is planned in the municipalities of Gjilan and Gjakova, as well as the formalization of the economic zone in Prizren.
According to her, Gjilan has great potential for industrial development, where a 140-hectare area owned by the municipality is planned for an economic zone and is located about 2 kilometers from the highway with Bujanovac. She emphasized that the fact that the land is municipally owned facilitates the process, as no expropriation is required, but only a use permit from the municipality.
The Minister announced that they are in close coordination with the Municipality of Gjilan and Mayor Alban Hyseni, so that this area can be declared an area of special public interest and transferred to the central level, in accordance with the legislation in force.
She added that after the completion of legal procedures, including the feasibility study and relevant approvals, the establishment of the industrial park will proceed.
According to the Minister, the goal is to begin investments in the basic infrastructure of this area in the fall of 2026, which is expected to serve not only Gjilan, but the entire Eastern Kosovo region.
