Minister of MIETI, Mimoza Kusari-Lila participated in the fourth edition of the Leadership Conference at UBT College, together with researchers, professors, students and many other attendees, where the topic “Governance of Innovation: Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” was developed as a discussion of particular importance for the challenges and opportunities that technological transformation brings to our society.
The Minister said that during the meeting with the Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, as well as with the Rector of the “Fan S. Noli” University of Korça, Prof. Dr. Lorenc Ikonomi, discussed the importance of strategic cooperation between higher education institutions and public institutions, as well as concrete opportunities for the development of joint projects in the interest of Kosovo, Albania and our youth.
Kusari-Lila also emphasized that innovation and technology are developing at a much faster pace than legal regulations, creating a gap that requires immediate addressing through modern public policies and a coordinated inter-institutional approach.
She emphasized that precisely for this reason, for the first time, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation also includes the field of innovation in its portfolio, with the aim of strengthening the connection between public institutions, the private sector, academia and the startup ecosystem.
In this regard, as per the Minister, the Ministry is taking concrete steps and have recently launched the Grant Scheme for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, worth EUR 1 million 160 thousand, which aims to support the development of innovative solutions, increase the competitiveness of businesses, create new jobs and strengthen the innovation ecosystem in Kosovo.
