The focus of the presentation was on trade agreements, legal reforms and support mechanisms for businesses, which are expected to impact the growth of exports, the creation of new jobs and the improvement of the investment climate in Kosovo.
According to the minister, the Free Trade Agreement with EFTA countries, including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, foresees the elimination of tariffs for most industrial products, improved access to agricultural markets and the inclusion of services such as financial, IT, transport and tourism.
Likewise, CEFTA protocols 5, 6 and 7 aim to facilitate trade procedures, liberalize trade in services and create more efficient dispute resolution mechanisms, in accordance with WTO and European Union standards.
As part of the legal reforms, the Draft Law on Innovation and Entrepreneurship was also presented, which envisages the creation of the Innovation Fund through grants, subsidies and support for startups, technology, patenting and business development. It also envisages the development of innovative infrastructure, including technology parks, incubators and clusters, as well as the creation of the National Innovation Council.
The Minister announced that control of trade in strategic goods will also be strengthened, harmonizing legislation with European Union rules on dual-use goods.
