According to the minister, the Draft Law on the Ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between Kosovo and the EFTA States was approved with 7 votes in favor and 1 abstention, describing this as an important step towards strengthening economic integration in European markets with high purchasing power.
She emphasized that this agreement creates new opportunities for exports and investments, providing for the elimination of customs tariffs for most industrial products, improved market access for agricultural products, as well as clearer rules for trade in goods and services, including sectors such as finance, information technology and tourism.
The Minister announced that trade with EFTA countries has marked steady growth, with exports increasing from 77.5 million euros in 2023 to over 100 million euros in 2025, accounting for about 10 percent of Kosovo’s total exports, while the ratification of this agreement is expected to further increase the presence of local products in international markets and strengthen the confidence of foreign investors.
It was also announced that the Commission has also approved Protocols 5, 6 and 7 of CEFTA, which cover trade, services and arbitration, with the aim of facilitating trade and increasing regional cooperation.
At the same meeting, the Draft Law on Entrepreneurship and Innovation was also approved, which aims to create a more developed entrepreneurial ecosystem, supporting startups, innovative ideas, and economic transformation towards a sustainable and knowledge-oriented model.
Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that these decisions represent concrete steps towards a more competitive and integrated economy, creating more opportunities for local businesses, and added that work will continue with dedication to sustainable economic development and expanding opportunities for the private sector in Kosovo.
