Minister Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, together with the Deputy Minister Mr. Mentor Arifaj, participated in the workshop organized by the Office for Strategic Planning within the Office of the Prime Minister, where the Draft Smart Specialization Strategy (S3) was presented and reviewed.
Minister Hajdari thanked the members of the National Team appointed by decision of the Prime Minister, the representatives of the European Commission, as well as the experts engaged by the Government of Kosovo for the drafting of the Smart Specialization (S3).
She emphasized that the Smart Strategy is a document of high importance for our country and an indicator that Kosovo is adopting a contemporary model for economic development in accordance with the initiative of the European Union.
“This innovation-oriented strategy is an essential tool to improve the ecosystem of innovation and research and to guide future investment in sectors recognized as priority areas in this process,” added Minister Hajdari.
The in-depth analysis aimed at identifying areas and sectors with potential for development in our country yielded the following priority areas: information and communication technology (horizontal sector); creative industry (horizontal sector); green energy; wood processing; and food processing.
“The aim is for Kosovo to have a smart, stable and comprehensive economy in the near future, based on strategic objectives of increasing employment, developing innovation, linking education with market needs, social inclusion and impact in the green economy/climate and energy,” emphasized Minister Hajdari.
The process of drafting the Smart Specialization Strategy was led by the Office of the Prime Minister, with support from all relevant actors of the public and private sectors and with technical assistance provided by DG JRC of the European Commission, with in-depth analysis to identify areas and sectors with potential for development in our country.
Finally, at the request of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, technical assistance was also provided by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in consolidating the draft and designing and developing the framework for monitoring the implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3).
