Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, accompanied by the Deputy Minister Getoar Mjeku and Senior Advisor Leman Hatashi, received today the Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Mr. Philip S. Kosnett, and the embassy official for economic affairs, Mr. Dillon Green.
Minister Rozeta Hajdari informed the ambassador about the priorities of the ministry, underlining the increase of competitiveness in industry, the improvement of the country's trade balance, as well as the attraction of investments and the involvement of the diaspora in the economic development of the country.
Minister Hajdari recalled the commitment to regional cooperation in initiatives for the development of tourism and other industrial sectors as well as to good trade relations – always within a framework where the Republic of Kosovo is treated equally with the countries of the region of Southeast Europe.
Ambassador Kosnett expressed the willingness of the US Government for a new stage in bilateral relations, marking the transition from providing assistance to building a partnership with the Republic of Kosovo, including investments from the diaspora. He praised the commitment to regional cooperation, emphasizing that the region needs Kosovo and that Kosovo should pursue its interests through various cooperation mechanisms. Ambassador Kosnett recalled that the rule of law and good governance are essential to attract investment and build new bridges with the diaspora.
Minister Hajdari thanked Ambassador Kosnett for the continued support of the United States.
Both appreciated the good relations between the two countries and expressed readiness to deepen and expand cooperation.
