In order to protect consumers and fair competition in the local market, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, signed the decision to regulate prices and establish other protective measures for petroleum products used in transportation.
Minister Hajdari stressed that this decision is the result of continuous monitoring of the oil products market, which has identified that changes in import supply prices are immediately reflected in an increase in selling prices in the local market, but not when import supply prices of oil products fall.
The data are obtained from the daily records of Kosovo Customs and reports of the Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance.
The decision determines as follows:
– the maximum permitted wholesale trade margin at two (2) eurocents per litre, and
– the maximum permitted retail trade margin at twelve (12) eurocents per litre.
Additionally, this decision obliges entities to supply products and offer for sale petroleum products, without interruption, as well as to respect prices with the maximum allowed trade margin and other defined protective measures.
Further, the implementation of this decision foresees increased inspection supervision, the reporting of suspicious cases to the Competition Authority, as well as close cooperation of the Central Inspectorate of Market Surveillance with the Customs and Tax Administration of Kosovo.
Minister Hajdari also noted that this decision is a step forward towards promoting fair market competition and consumer protection, by preventing anti-competitive behaviour, ensuring transparency and equal conditions in the market of the Republic of Kosovo.
