Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, has made the second important decision since he took office last week.
Shala has initially decided to dislocate the Metrology Agency, which is within the MTI, to the premises of this Ministry in Bërnica, Prishtina, and he plans to do the same with two other agencies, namely the Standardization Agency and the Accreditation Agency.
Regarding this, the Minister said that there will be a modern quality centre in the Republic of Kosovo.
Mr Shala also paid a visit to the premises of this Ministry in Bërnica, Prishtina together with his team of advisors and chief executives of the Metrology Agency, Standardization Agency, and Accreditation Agency.
Minister Shala said he will make a decision immediately to dislocate these three agencies to these premises, adding that such premises will provide better working conditions.
"The Kosovo Government has invested nearly EUR 2 million and unfortunately these premises have remained in this poor condition. Due to the lack of care, their condition was getting worse.
Today I will decide to dislocate here the Metrology Agency. The World Bank has supported the MTI with a fund to adapt and functionalize these premises. I also plan to dislocate the Standardization Agency and the Accreditation Agency to these premises and make this investment of our citizens usable", said Mr Shala.
Minister Shala said that this kind of negligence will stop and the investments will not be dependent on the mercy of luck.
"I am very committed to push the processes forward and not allow such millions of investments be dependent on the mercy of luck. This will no longer be tolerated. These premises will be managed seriously and properly just as the state institutions are to be treated and maintained", said Shala.
Minister Shala took office last week and, in the very first week, he has made the decision to set up the Geographic Indicators for Kosovo, which will increase the trust on local products.
