The Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, has signed the Administrative Instruction obliging companies that sell petroleum products to clean their tanks every 3 years.
Minister Shala has said that this is taking place for the first time, in order to protect the consumer.
“For the first time the fuel station tanks in the Republic of Kosovo will be cleaned in order to protect the consumer. A few weeks ago, I have signed an Administrative Instruction obliging companies that trade petroleum products in our market to tanks every 3 years, “said Minister Shala.
He said there have been many complaints about the quality of the fuel, but from now one every company that seeks licensing must clean its tanks.
“For 20 years in Kosovo we have had complaints about the quality of petroleum products, we have been challenged for quality control, but so far we have never obliged companies to clean the tanks in which they hold these fuels. Now any company licensed for trading in fuel will have one of the key criteria for tank cleaning, protecting the consumer. The cleaning will be in full compliance with European standards, thus increasing the quality in the local market, “said Shala.
The Minister emphasized that the work will continue in control and increase the quality in order to protect the consumer.
“I stand firm for quality control and consumer protection, and the new fuel law has already been redrafted and will soon be in Parliament. There, we anticipate further steps aimed at enhancing quality, market control, increasing revenues for the state with the sole purpose of protecting the consumer, ”said Shala.
