Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, hosted in a working meeting the representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD in Kosovo, led by Director of EBRD for Kosovo, Neil Taylor accompanied with other officials.
On this occasion, Minister Shala has informed the EBRD representatives about the activities of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and in particular mentioned the support provided in development of the private sector, improving the business climate, removing barriers for businesses, regulating the internal market and building capacity for the re-functionalization of National Council for Economic Development – NCED.
The representatives of EBRD in Kosovo were interested about the projects led by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in particular in the project for realization of second phase for expanding the Drenas Industrial Park, as well as further development of other economic zones in some centers in Kosovo. Minister Shala said that the institutions of Republic of Kosovo are interested to functionalize the Law on Strategic Investments, and to commence handling the requests coming from foreign and local investors and proceed with the further facilitation of administrative procedures that would intensify the co-operation between investors and government in implementing various investment projects.
The interlocutors expressed the willingness to further deepen the cooperation between MTI and EBRD, and especially in strengthening of the Secretariat of NCED located in MTI premises.
