Minister Shala on World Standards Day: Let’s start to build trust in domestic products

Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, has opened the International Standardization Day, where the new logo of the Kosovo Standardization Agency was also disclosed.

Minister Shala's message for this day was to build trust in domestic products, because according to him, most of them are served with SK standards.

By signing the administrative instruction for the new logo, Minister has shown that priority is given to the empowerment of standards.

“Yesterday I signed the Administrative Instruction for the Logo of the Agency for Standards, a document which sets out the rules for using this agency's emblem and the identification symbol for the Kosovo Standardization Body. This instruction in a symbolic way presents the map of Kosovo, in two rhombuses (square in the corner) as figure equivalence, as if the standards themselves show a pattern of how to manufacture a product, "said Shala.

The Minister called it a political problem the non-inclusion of certification in the Standardization Agency.

"One challenge for all of us is the non-inclusion of certification in the Standardization Agency, whereby Kosovo standardization would become more powerful, more supportive, and Kosovo based European standards SK-EN would be implemented at a higher rate”.

The minister has asked to increased trust in domestic products by adding that he will support the KSA to implement standards at the highest level.

“I have requested from the KSA directors that the new Law on Standardization be completed with administrative instructions for certification so that the standards are implemented to the desired scale. I will support KSA in setting up a Certification Sector, so that this service to be provided by our institutions, let's start build up the trust in our domestic products, as most of them are already being served with SK standards. KSA reports tell us that the sale of standards is growing every year, so we want to believe that Kosovo is becoming more competitive with its products and services, "said Shala.

Minister thanked also the FMG project, which is helping KSA for membership in international mechanisms.

I also want to thank the EU Free Movement of Goods project, which is strongly supporting the four pillars of Quality Infrastructure operating within MTI, from which standardization is the foundation of this infrastructure, "said Minister Shala.
