Minister Vesel Krasniqi met with the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Tomáš Szunyog

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi received today in a meeting the Ambassador of the European Union in Kosovo, Tomáš Szunyog.

Minister Krasniqi initially thanked the Ambassador for the assistance and support that the EU is providing to Kosovo for the development and progress in terms of the integration processes.

Another topic of discussion was the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the country's economy.

Minister Krasniqi said that in addition to managing the pandemic, as the Minister of Trade and Industry we are committed to protect consumers and at the same time to support businesses.

"We have taken several decisions aimed at protecting the consumer. I was in the field with market inspectors to see the implementation of the decisions. In addition, we are waiting that the law on economic recovery passes in the Assembly, so the businesses get a help from the state in order that the economy of the country becomes functional ", said Minister Krasniqi.

Another concern that Minister Krasniqi addressed to the ambassador were the obstacles from the neighbouring state of Serbia for the products produced in Kosovo.

"I request from the EU to exercise its authority in Serbia for respecting the agreements reached for the free movement of goods in CEFTA," said Krasniqi.

EU Ambassador Szunyog congratulated the Minister on the work and expressed readiness to continue supporting Kosovo for having a more stable economy and a greater development in this regard, as well as the EU fund for economic recovery from 5 million euros in aid to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
