The Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, has signed today an agreement with the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Albania, Arben Ahmetaj, at the joint meeting of the two Governments, which was held today in the city of Peja.
Minister Shala said that Kosovo and Albania need to increase trade exchanges by creating facilities and removing tariff and non-tariff barriers.
“Today, more than ever, our countries need to increase trade exchanges by creating all possible facilities and lifting any tariff and non-tariff barrier existing between our two countries. Therefore, today, in meeting the objectives for enhancing and deepening the inter-institutional cooperation between our two countries, we, together with the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Albania, Arben Ahmetaj, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of Industrial Property, for the implementation of which our two institutions covering Industrial Property, which are the Industrial Property Agency of the Republic of Kosovo and the General Directorate of Brands and Patents of the Republic of Albania, will then be engaged", said Minister Shala.
Shala has said that this agreement covers important areas for economic development and guaranteeing Enterprise Investment by protecting and registering their intellectual or industrial property reflected in: innovations, inventions, trademarks etc.
“Industrial property objects, as creations of the human mind, have a special economic importance for the business and it is estimated that 70-80 per cent of a company's assets in countries with knowledge-based economy consists of non-physical assets or intellectual capital.
Therefore, this agreement and other agreements open today a page of institutional cooperation and increase of trade exchanges between our two countries”, said Shala.
