The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade marks the World Tourism Day; a traditional event with many activities, which this time is held in the village of Belle in the Municipality of Deçan.
On World Tourism Day 2023, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) highlights the need for more green and better-targeted investments for people, for the planet, and for prosperity.
Minister Hajdari emphasized the importance of the sustainable development of tourism as one of the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, as there is a great potential for the development of this sector, impact on socio-economic development, and growth of employment.
She revealed the vision that by 2030 Kosovo will become a sustainable and competitive tourist destination in the Western Balkans, through the implementation of the 2030 Tourism Strategy drawn up by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade.
In addition, Minister Hajdari announces the progress in completing the legal infrastructure and building support mechanisms and schemes for the sustainable development of natural and cultural tourism, including the improvement of statistics, infrastructure, digitalization as well as the innovation fund for new and innovative solutions, and not only for traditional investments that promote and support economic growth and productivity.
The marking of World Tourism Day was also characterized by folklore and exhibition of handicrafts, and national and traditional clothing of the Dukagjin region. The activity ended with a walk to the adventure park in the village of Belle.
The celebration of World Tourism Day is an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade in cooperation with civil societies and development partners, in one of the destinations enriched with many natural treasures and cultural tourism heritage in our country.
This year, the event was supported by the PPSE project funded by Switzerland.
Government colleagues, the mayor of the municipality of Deçan, diplomatic and development partners, non-governmental tourism organizations and active tourism actors were invited in this event.
