Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, hosted in a meeting Damien Shiels, IFC`s Europe and Latin America manager, together with his team, who discussed about the future projects to be implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Shala stressed that IFC confirmed that it will soon start with a new project that will support local producers, mainly in the production of technology, enabling their empowerment and opening of new jobs.
"The topic of the debate was also the exchange of experiences in attracting investments to similar countries such as Ireland. It was also appreciated the strengthening of mechanisms in handling complaints for investors that will be done within the National Council for Economic Development. The Ministry of Trade and Industry is thankful to IFC and the Swiss Government for their support so far and we are ready to continue the cooperation in upcoming projects, to positively influence in the economic development of the country, "said Minister Shala.
Minister Shala stressed that MTI is very pleased with the mutual cooperation in the implementation of the project "Improvement of Investment Climate 2 – second phase", which is being implemented by IFC/World Bank, which aims to support with technical assistance in the realization of activities related to the continuous support of KIESA, KBRA and other MTI agencies on the improvement of business climate and attracting foreign direct investment as well as further development of the private sector in Kosovo.
"MTI also co-chairs the National Council for Economic Development and in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development we have also established the Technical Secretariat of the NCED. We, in advance, have agreed with IFC officials, where within this Secretariat we will also have a System for Handling Complaints submitted by investors that operate in Kosovo, "said Shala.
Whereas, Damien Shiels confirmed that IFC will soon start with a new project in support of local producers, which will also have an impact in the opening of new jobs.
