The Ministry of Trade and Industry is monitoring economic operators for the placement of flags to the products indicating the country of origin, based on the Administrative Instruction, signed by Minister Endrit Shala on December 29, 2018.
Today, market inspectors have conducted field visits to several stores to monitor the placement of flags and asked businesses to place flags to the products indicating the country of origin as soon as possible.
MTI's Chief Inspector, Lulzim Syla has asked the businesses to compile with the Administrative Instruction signed by Minister Shala and to place flags to the products as soon as possible.
Mr Syla, together with market inspectors visited today several stores in the region of Prishtina and talked with the managers of these supermarkets, informing them that monitoring visits will continue.
“Today, we have visited several supermarkets in the city of Prishtina and asked them to compile with the Administrative Instruction signed by Minister Shala in December last year. Based on the situation in the field, most of the supermarkets have placed flags and we advised that, in order to not to be subject to fines, the law should be respected by all”, said Mr Syla.
The chief inspector stated that the idea is not for businesses to be fined but, rather informed that the instruction that has entered into force must be respected.
“The inspectorate is doing its job and we are informing the stores that they need to place the product flags indicating the country of origin as soon as possible. We have recently been conducting field visits, namely inspecting supermarkets, and we plan to do so in the days ahead. I call upon all economic operators to place the flags to the products they sell so that the consumer knows what he/she is buying. Every single product should have the attached flag indicating the country of origin since the law should be compiled with”, said Mr Syla.
