MTI’s Deputy Minister, Faton Thaçi, today has met the Lecture Miro Jurevic, the expert for economic zones, who was accompanied by other expert of this field.
The topic of discussion at this meeting was the presentation of Croatian experiences applied in economic zones.
Mr. Thaçi expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the Croatian state in relation to Kosovo, where he informed the guest about the MTI’s achievements in regard to infrastructure and legal framework, and the support made toward promotion of economic zones which is considered as promoters to attract foreign investors.
The representative of the Croatian delegation, led by Miro Jujevic, expressed the readiness to support and provide their technical assistance, conceptual, projecting and provide their legal experiences in order to develop these economic zones.
In the wake of this meeting, Thaci said that the current government, namely the Ministry of Trade and Industry, among its priorities in this mandate, is also to treat these free economic zones, establish new free zones in other locations where exists preconditions, such as: location, necessary energy infrastructure, as well as access to the road infrastructure.
Further, Deputy Minister Thaci added that the MTI is in the phase of completing the drafting of the necessary legislation, the one that regulates free economic zones is nearly to be amendment and supplemented, therefore he said that today's meeting I considered fruitful by taking into consideration the Croatian experience on passing an economic and development transition phase, which experience for Kosovo is more than welcome.
At the end of this meeting, the parties agreed in the spirit of cooperation as two ally countries to define objectives, such as: completion of legal infrastructure, physical infrastructure, economic zone organization and definition of economic sectors in free economic zones.
