In the framework of joint activities to promote trade and economic cooperation between Kosovo and Albania, a joint meeting is taking place among the Kosovo’s Ministry of Trade and Industry and Albanian Ministry for Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship, as well as representatives of Kosovo businesses. The meeting is held in Saranda, at the headquarters of the Economic Faculty of Tirana, branch of Saranda.
In her opening speech, Mayor of Saranda, Florijana Koka, highly appreciated the need for institutional cooperation among businesses and the initiative to place Kosovo’s products on the Albanian coast’s markets and vice versa.
The minister of Economic Development, Milva Ekonomi, praised the cooperation of two countries, in promoting foreign investment with effect to development common touristic destinations such as Balkans and beyond.
The minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami, initially pointed out that improvement of business environment will effect on sustainable economic development. It is necessary to work on the growth and expansion of trade exchanges through complementary cooperation between state institutions and businesses themselves, by establishing a contractual partnership relations. In this process it is important to work in advancing customs cooperation, increase the quality of products and certify them based on European standards, she said.
Business representatives highly appreciated the organization of this event and the need to create incentives for placing the products in the common market of both countries.
During the day they made several visits as to the center of the mussel farm, the Mane factory dealing in industry sector for artificial cultivation of fish, as well as citrus plantations.
At the end of the visit was concluded several contracts between the businesses and producers of medicinal herbs, wine producers as well as in hospitality and tourism sector.
