The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) reacts to the newspaper “Insajderi.org”, which has published, on 03.08.2021, (and some other portals have redistributed) an untrue article, accusing the Minister of MIET Rozeta Hajdari for breaching the law related to the Kosovo Metrology Agency (KMA).
In the article of "Insajderi.org" it is claimed that Minister Hajdari allegedly favoured an oil company, ordering KMA officials to verify the measuring instruments of the company despite the conflict of interest. The article illustrates the allegations with parts from the official correspondence, but deliberately and maliciously hides the parts of the correspondence, which prove the correctness of Minister Hajdari and KMA officials.
In this case, an economic operator has requested the verification of flow measuring instruments with a capacity of over one thousand (1 thousand) litters per minute. Although, KMA is the only institution that can verify the equipment of this capacity in the Republic of Kosovo, while the general director at the time, Mr. Ferki Fejza, has stopped his subordinates from performing the service for alleged conflict of interest and has suggested that the Cabinet of the Minister find a solution. After subordinates have expressed disagreement and after Mr. Fejza has failed to explain the reasons, the legal basis or the international standard that prohibits the performance of the service, Minister Hajdari has instructed KMA to review the request of the party.
This course of events is revealed precisely in the correspondence censored by the newspaper "Insajderi.org". The author of the article maliciously hid the truth and published the untruth, unjustly attacking Minister Hajdari and throwing mud on the work of KMA officials.
Mr. Ferki Fejza, last month has been suspended from the position of General Director of KMA and then left the civil service for a series of serious violations, elaborated in the decision of the State Council for Evaluation and Discipline. Since the suspension, then the dismissal of Mr. Fejza, the work of the Metrology Agency has become the target of fake news in some local media.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade is willing to cooperate with the media and journalists and help them fulfil their professional mission, but not by hiding the truth deliberately and denigrating the institution.
