The Kosovo Metrology Agency (KMA), in coordination with the Central Inspectorate for Market Supervision (CIMS), is continuing the inspection campaign of economic operators engaged in the production and sale of bread in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
The inspections, which began on 25 August 2026, aim to monitor the weight of bread, as well as verify the validity period of scales used in bakeries operating in the Republic of Kosovo, in order to protect consumers from fraud.
The joint actions of the KMA and the CIMS were initially carried out in the region of Prishtina and Fushe-Kosove, while the inspection activities continued on 1 and 3 September 2026.
As a result of the increased interest of economic operators, the KMA has received 60 requests from bakers for verification of scales in recent days.
Inspections will continue in the coming days, extending to other municipalities in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
KMA and CIMS call on all bakers in the Republic of Kosovo to ensure timely verification of scales, ensure accurate measurement of products and respect all legal requirements, in order to guarantee consumer protection and the fair functioning of the market.
