Today, at the roundtable organized by the Petroleum, Gas and Lubricants Business Association (PGLBA), the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry (MTI), Faton Thaçi, presented the priorities of the MTI for the oil industry.
According to Thaçi, the basic approach is directed towards increasing the quality control of all products used through import or domestic production from Kosovo citizens.
Further, Deputy Minister Thaçi emphasized that: "high priority of the MTI is the efficiency in controlling the quality of petroleum, but also to other petroleum derivate products, such as oils, gases, liquefied oils, etc.; high priority of the MTI is the co-operation and protection of equality in the oil market and consumer protection; high priority and special focus of the MTI is also the coordination of all institutional mechanisms that influence advancement of the quality of the petroleum products".
He also stated that the Ministry of Trade and Industry is ready and is working efficiently to ensure that the by-laws and the Law on Petroleum are further advanced so that the quality control mechanisms of petroleum products are effective and that the consumer be happy with the use of products derived from petroleum.
Further, Deputy Minister Thaçi added: "as MTI, we are aware that the current Law on Petroleum does not regulate and does not meet the criteria of the oil market, but within this activity we are seriously engaged in the completion of legal infrastructure, such as the new law and by-laws in accordance with the EU standards that will regulate once and for all, this area of great importance, which also has an effect on the economic development of the country.
After the discussions by the participants directed towards the MTI, Mr. Thaçi was open to respond to the concerns of oilmen.
The meeting was concluded by deciding that Petroleum, Gas and Lubricants Business Association shall address the requests in written form to the relevant institutions.
