The Government of Kosovo has approved four MIET documents

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in its 36th regular meeting, has approved four important documents proposed by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET):

Draft Law on Inspections, which will lay the foundations for reform and coordination of inspectorates, improving law enforcement and reducing the burden on inspection entities. This draft law is a framework act, which establishes the main rules of inspections, establishes the Office of the Inspector General for coordination at the national level, as well as instructs the preparation of laws and other acts for inspections in relevant areas.

Draft Law on Semiconductor Topographies, which is part of the package of industrial property laws. This act defines and protects the rights of creators of topographies of semiconductor products, in accordance with EU legislation. By approving this draft law, the Republic of Kosovo fulfills another obligation from the Stabilization and Association Agreement and strengthens the legal infrastructure for the development of the country.

The decision for granting the strategic investor status to the entity "Kosmonte Foods" L.L.C., based on the Law on Strategic Investments, the recommendation of the Inter-Ministerial Commission and the relevant assessment of compliance with the criteria. Kosmonte Foods will implement an investment project in the processing industry of fruits, agricultural products and poultry meat. The value of the project exceeds 11 million euros.

The decision to repeal acts under the Trade Barrier Elimination Program, which updates legislation, bypassing regulations and technical and non-technical acts inherited from the former Yugoslavia. The decision simultaneously annuls similar acts that have been adopted by the violent authorities after 22 March 1989 and have therefore always been invalid. The Program for the Elimination of Trade Barriers 2021–2025, deriving from the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, was approved by Government Decision No. 22/16, of 22 June 2021. Today's decision is a continuation of the previous decision.
