Minister of Trade and Industry, Vesel Krasniqi, had a meeting with the heads of the inspection mechanisms to coordinate and take measures to fight the spread of pandemic.
The meeting was attended by: Sazan Ibrahimi, Executive Director of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities; Valdet Gjinovci, Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Veterinary Agency, Adonis Tahiri, coordinator of municipal inspectorates; Ekrem Kastrati, Chief Inspector of the Labor Inspectorate; Lulzim Syla, Chief Inspector of the Market Inspectorate; as well as Burim Rreci, Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Minister Krasniqi stressed that the purpose of this meeting, which was as a result of a previous meeting with the Association of Kosovo Municipalities and Municipal Inspectorates, is to coordinate field inspections.
“Increasing the number of inspections also requires an increase in the number of inspectors and we, as Government, will take all steps to enable the increase of the number of inspectors to implement the measures of the Government of Kosovo and the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo in preventing the spread of Covid-19 Pandemic”, stated minister Krasniqi.
He further asked the participants to take all actions to coordinate and mobilize all inspection capacities in order to protect public health in the first place and at the same time to inform businesses about the new measures of the Government of Kosovo.
Also, Minister Krasniqi promised that they will consider the possibilities of additional payments within the special code, which has been allocated by the Government of Kosovo to fight the pandemics.
At the end of the meeting, all representatives of these inspection mechanisms agreed to establish the Inspections Coordination Body for the implementation of measures for the prevention of pandemics, chaired by Lulzim Syla, Chief Inspector of the Market Inspectorate within the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Also, Minister Krasniqi asked this body to have daily coordination meetings for inspections in all regions of Kosovo, in order to prevent the spread of pandemics.
