The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has held a roundtable on the Law on Services, which has a significant impact on the functioning of the Kosovo Services Sector. This law will service businesses and the growth and supports the economic activity in Kosovo.
While elaborating this law, the Director of Legal Department at MTI, Rexhep Bllaca, emphasized that the Law on Services regulates the basic principles and the creation of service activity in Kosovo. He talked about the purpose of the law, pointing out: "The purpose of the law is to include certain provisions in national legislation, given the approach of gradual harmonization. Through the transposition of the EU Directive on Services, the law will help to establish a national legislative framework that will be more favorable to businesses, "said Bllaca.
He added that further contribution to a better environment for businesses in Kosovo will be the continuation of the activities promoted by this law.
Also, Bllaca mentioned the fact that the Service Sector is one of the sectors that has a positive balance in Kosovo and will have an impact on improving the business environment, which will make Kosova more attractive for foreign investments.
Meanwhile, Director of Trade Department at MTI, Sytrime Dervisholli, said that the Kosovo Service sector is pretty developed. She said that in the field of Services we are the best country in the region, especially in the Information Technology sector.
While, Matjaz Logar, project team leader “Assistance for implementing the SAA”, adding that Kosovo has signed the SAA agreement and is at the beginning of this process due to the economic cooperation structure with EU, and there are some provisions that can not be implemented. "This Law does not include the provision of cross-border services because Kosovo is not an EU member. I am optimistic that the law will have a perspective on business services in Kosovo, "he said.
Law on Services is adopted by the Kosovo Assembly in March of this year. This law will help to create a national legislative framework that will be more favorable to businesses, especially in the area of setting up a business, eliminating or reducing administrative burdens and creating contact points through a state websites where will be Included all types of services, such as permits, licenses, etc.
