At the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Consumer Protection Council held its next meeting to discuss consumer`s current issues.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various government institutions, regulators, and non-governmental organizations. As observers, also participated the representatives of the European Commission project "Free Movement of Goods" – FMG, where they discussed about the statistics on consumer complaints and the consumer website, www.konsumatori.rks-gov.net
Representatives of the Consumer Protection Department have presented to the members of the council the changes at the consumer`s website, which will facilitate access and the form of consumer complaint.
The Consumer Protection Department also presented the complaints of the consumers. For this period were filed 433 complaints, 197 of them were resolved, whereas 236 are in the process.
At the meeting, the organization CONSUMER have proposed some points of discussion, which were approved. Among them was the increase of vehicle insurance price by 26 percent. The rise that directly affects the consumer's budget and that it should be reviewed as a decision, because it is a very high raise.
Likewise, the representatives of the FMG Project have proposed the form of submitting council recommendations to relevant institutions in the field of consumer protection to focus the council's requirements only in the area of consumer protection.
At the meeting, the current situation in the field of consumer protection was also discussed, in specific areas such as: energy sector, fuel sector, financial sector and various vital sectors for consumers.
