Following their initial meeting earlier this year with successful businessman and renowned philanthropist Eyal Moshe Waldman, yesterday’s meeting also included businessmen Tomer Louis Goren, Tal Jacob Chotiner, Mandy Mimon Schestowitz, Israel Baruch Ziv, and Reuven Shaibel. They have businesses in many countries around the world and have now committed to investing in Kosovo.
The Minister of Economy, Ms. Artane Rizvanolli, and Mr. Zef Dedaj, Acting Director of the Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support Agency (KIESA), also attended the meeting. They discussed the business environment in Kosovo and the incentives available for opening a whiskey distillery, an electronics manufacturing plant, and investing in green energy. MIET/KIESA will be responsible for identifying suitable public properties within the industrial parks currently being developed, as well as other public properties, for the implementation of these three projects in the manufacturing industry sectors.
Minister Hajdari emphasized that Mr. Waldman's commitment is a significant contribution to strengthening economic cooperation and promoting Kosovo as an attractive destination for Foreign Direct Investment.
During productive discussions aimed at enhancing economic relations between Kosovo and Israel, Mr. Waldman, drawing on his expertise in innovation and technology, expressed full confidence in Kosovo's economic potential. He also indicated his intention to be an active investor, with plans to invest in various industrial sectors.
Organized by MIET/KIESA, the Israeli delegation had important meetings with local enterprises in the machinery and electronic equipment sectors, whiskey distillation, and investment in green energy. During these meetings, they got to know local entrepreneurs and explored partnership possibilities between Kosovar and Israeli businesses.
This once again demonstrates that Kosovo, with its economic and democratic potential, is gaining international recognition as a safe place for attracting investments and doing business.
The latest report from FDI Intelligence, supported by the Financial Times, ranks Kosovo as 2nd in Europe for its development, and 5th in the world, for attracting Foreign Direct Investment.
The most recent OECD report, “Competitiveness in South-Eastern Europe: A Policy Outlook 2024”, emphasizes that Kosovo has made significant progress since 2021. It has shown positive advancements in 12 out of 15 policy dimensions, exceeding the average of the six economies in the Western Balkans (WB6) in five policy dimensions, especially in investment promotion policies and other areas. Kosovo has positioned itself as a regional leader in trade policies.
