World Standards Day 2019 has been celebrated on Wednesday, October 16th in Pristina by the Kosovo Standardization Agency (KSA), an agency within the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Bekim Jupa, said that KSA should provide the best possible services to businesses and other stakeholders.
Jupa emphasized that MTI supports the Agency continuously in capacity building and in supplementing the Law on Standardization through administrative instructions for standards to be implemented at the desired level.
"Standards are at the service of globalizing the market by providing fair competition, quality and safe products," said Jupa.
Whereas, Team Leader for Economic Development and Cooperation Section, EU Office in Kosovo, George Papagiannis said that today at World Standards Day we are expressing gratitude to the work done by thousands of experts who develop standards worldwide and exchange them voluntarily. European standardization is of great importance in the EU's common market, said Papagiannis, contributes to the integration of this market and supports the competitiveness, job creation, innovation and industries.
According to the KSA, the demand for standards in Kosovo is growing every year. Whereas, during the last year the Agency has signed agreements with European standardization organizations CEN CENELEC, to provide access to European standards.
KSA`s General Manager Hafiz Gara has presented the agency's five-year strategy – "A New Vision in the Standardization".
The Kosovo Standardization Agency is supported by a European Union funded project, "Free Movement of Goods" with European standardization best practices, as one of the most important pillars of quality infrastructure.
