The Kosovo Metrology Agency (KMA), which operates within the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has taken a further step in consumer protection, inaugurating the mobile pre-packaging laboratory.
This laboratory will serve to control the masses from 5 grams to 10 kilograms and the volume from 5 millilitres to 10 litters, the products will be checked before packing them.
The head of the Metrology Agency, Ferki Fejza, said that the mobile laboratory of pre-packages and measuring bottles is the first of its kind in Kosovo, which ensures the fulfilment of the implementation of the Metrology law.
"This is a step towards law enforcement and consumer protection, as well as service to manufacturing companies who aim to export their products to European Union countries and other countries around the world," said Fejza.
He said that with EU directives that are also adapted to local legislation, it is required that all products that are on the market must comply with EU directives and Kosovo laws.
"Until now, we have not been able to implement this component due to the lack of a laboratory. The laboratory is with the means of the Agency, ie the Government and from today the conditions have been created to fulfil the law in this segment too", said Fejza.
The Chief Executive Officer of AMK said that they hope that in the future other segments will increase their capacity, because with this mobile laboratory, measures from 5 grams to 10 kilograms and that of volume from 5 millilitres to 10 litters will be covered.
"In the future, we expect to increase the capacities to other levels too and have the opportunity to cover the entire territory of Kosovo, and then pass this to supervision, because the first step is pre-packaging, to be checked before being packaged and monitor the companies whether they have complied with the laws when the goods enter the market ", said Fejza.
