A press conference was held today in Peja on the occasion of the commencement of maintenance work in the “Via Dinarica” mountain trail in the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park in the course of the implementation of the “NaturKosovo” project.
Expressing sincere consideration for the work of the “NaturKosovo” project team with local and Italian partners, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, stated that the commencement of maintenance work on the "Via Dinarica" mountain trail in the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park through the "NaturKosovo" project, with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and the Italian Embassy in Kosovo, is a proof of the increased care we pay for sustainable tourism development and increasing the attractiveness of the municipal areas of Peja, Deçan, Junik and the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
She stated that through the consolidation, improvement and promotion of the "Via Dinarica" mountain trail stretching to 8 countries – Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, responsive tourism will develop in all local communities in the regional countries, creating joint and competitive offers to attract tourists and tourist groups to the region enriched with attractive and authentic tourist variety.
Minister Hajdari, while emphasizing the importance of the "Via Dinarica" mountain trail to regional cooperation and European integration, informed the attendees that the Government of Kosovo and the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade are giving priority to the development of sustainable tourism, through the implementation of the Tourism Strategy 2030 and new by-laws on tourism, sustainable investments and innovation and entrepreneurship.
She said that, with the establishment of the Enterprise Support Agency and the Innovation Fund within the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, which includes new mandates and responsibilities for tourism development, importance will be given to the development of supporting instruments and schemes for tourism, in cooperation with local and international partners, for more effectiveness and sustainability in this sector, with an impact on socio-economic development and employment growth.
The attendees were also informed of an agreement signed for the inclusion of the Republic of Kosovo in the “Common Market” Program for the period 2021-2027, as a very important step towards the Kosovo integration process in the EU. Being the largest program to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and organizations of the European Union, with a monetary value of €4.2 billion, Kosovo will be able to benefit through various programs and calls to support enterprises and organizations in many sectors, including tourism.
