The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, with the Department of Tourism and with support from the Project Promoting Private Sector Employment (PPSE) – Swisscontact and cooperation with the Tourism Union of Kosova have concluded today the three-day activity marking the World Tourism Day.
Today, with activities from the field of natural and cultural tourism, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari with her Deputy Minister Mentor Arifaj and MIET colleagues, welcomed the invitees of diplomatic representations and international cooperation, with support and cooperation in tourism sector – European Union, Switzerland/Swisscontact, Italy/Natur Kosovo, Hungary, UNDP, local and regional tourism operators as well as other representatives from the countries of the region and beyond.
The participants visited Ulpiana Archaeological Park, where they were closely informed about ancient city Ulpiana, the antiquity of culture and the way of life of our ancestors. Then, the participants have visited Etno Fest Complex, in Kukaj Village, walking by the ethnographic museum, ethno-theatre, creation of scenes, chimneys, old houses, amphitheatres and exhibition galleries, spaces for traditional gastronomy, spaces for concerts, theatre performances, presented by Prof. Fadil Hysaj.
This event was also enriched with Ethnographic Exhibitions at the Ethnological Museum "100 year old grandmothers", photo exhibition by Samir Karahoda, Exhibition of 120 ethnographic exponents (models) by Hasan Ndrecaj, Exhibition of portraits of well-known cultural and political personalities made in a unique form of wood mosaic by Nagip Tashi, as well as the Exhibition of paintings with pins and public demonstration of this type of art by Qëndresa Kllokoqi Mustafa.
In the welcoming speech, Minister Rozeta Hajdari said that tourism is a sector with potential for economic development and employment, which, as a sign of tourism day, recalled the history, rich culture and ancient civilization of our people.
"I am happy that today we are celebrating World Tourism Day, because tourism is a sector with a great potential for economic development and employment. Thank you very much for coming to the Archaeological Park 'Ulpiana' which shows our ancient civilization, our culture as well as our language which is one of the first and the oldest languages in the world. Today we aim at digitization, technological industrial and tourism transformation which bring rapid development and integration to our society, nevertheless we will never forget our ancient civilization and national values for centuries, therefore we aim that through tourism policy with implementing programs to develop and integrate our mountain and cultural tourism assets as much as possible, as a tourism value chain, thus creating common tourist offers with regional countries aiming to faster economic development in the country and region as well as integration in the Union European.
At the end of the World Tourism Day, was demonstrated the bride's soloist according to ancient traditions accompanied by a musical program, with singing and a monologues created with motifs from old songs by the actress Sheqerie Buqaj and a performance of old melodies accompanied by a flute by Blenda Conjheli and with cello by Arbreshë Ademi, as well as the presentation of baking the bread in the deep clay pan in the presence of guests and baked in the fireplace in the old fashioned way in embers and ashes.
