At the 81st meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, at the request of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade were approved:
1. Initiative for the negotiation of the International Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo represented by MIET and EFTA member states (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein). The Free Trade Agreement covers various areas in which the parties will seek greater cooperation on trade issues such as: trade in goods and services, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, trade facilitation, rules of origin, including customs cooperation and intellectual property rights.
2. Initiative for the negotiation of the International Agreement for Kosovo's participation in the European Single Market Program between the Republic of Kosovo, represented by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade and the European Union. Single Market Program aims to strengthen internal market surveillance, improve the competitiveness of industry, in particular micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), consumer protection including food safety, statistics improvement and improvement of the financial sector.
Through these initiatives, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade aims to intensify international cooperation in the field of economy, namely improving the business environment and developing competitiveness, enabling the development of key economic sectors such as industry, entrepreneurship, innovation, trade and tourism.
