Prime Minister Kurti, after welcoming all those present, informed them about the progress and achievements in the last two years and about the common goals for the years that await us in the future.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mrs. Rozeta Hajdari, during the session "Innovation and technology as a prerequisite for economic development in the future", spoke about the importance of innovation saying that innovation has become an essential issue in the performance of businesses and plays a vital role in the productivity of competition and the national economy.
She said that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has recognized the importance of innovation and in this regard has implemented concrete policies for the private sector, mentioning the supplementation of the relevant law on intellectual property rights and the drafting of the industrial policy.
“Another important aspect is that since Kosovo has the youngest population in Europe, and we are oriented towards entrepreneurship, in order to create better conditions, these days we are finalizing the Law on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The primary focus of this law is the creation of an innovative fund from which our people with innovative ideas can benefit", Minister Hajdari added.
Minister Hajdari said that in the ICT sector in Kosovo, the presence of young employees is quite high, therefore, due to the skills they have, exports in the ICT sector in 2022 have increased by 114%. As for the legal framework, the minister informed those present about the Law on the Chamber of Commerce, which aims to re-establish the Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo by adopting the best models of the EU countries, taking as an example The Chamber of Commerce in Austria, which she called a good model for Kosovo.
In addition, Minister Hajdari also mentioned the support for SMEs, especially for those with innovative ideas, through grant schemes for production machinery for export, from which local and international businesses can benefit, as well as the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund, as well as the EU's €4.2 billion Single Market Program, where businesses can soon apply and benefit from its scheme.
